LATEST NEWS
Paddlers for Life Windermere are looking forward to an exciting fifth season.

Paddlers for Life look forward to the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.
We will share the experience with other breast cancer survivor crews.

All being well Paddlers for Life will be participating in the pageant. There are many logistical hurdles to leap as well as safety issues, the weather and paddler's fitness to complete this challenging paddle but we are optimistic.

Interested members who may participate met with Louisa to find out what we can look forward to.
Louisa outlined the complexity of the pageant and Paul ran through interesting facts about paddling on a large tidal river such as the Thames.
A few members are to meet in London in a couple of weeks to paddle with other paddlers so that the organisers can get a sense of how paddlers and their dragon boats will cope with a tidal river.

Lots of hard work from Mags and many other members and helpers made the third Paddlers for Life Coffee Morning a great success. All the stalls, clothes, cakes, books and Bric-a-brac did great trade. The raffle and tombola were equally busy.
The fantastic sum of £943:35p was raised.

What? No Dragon Boat paddlers!
This is what Windermere sometimes looks like in January when we are not there.

Aly, Tony and Sparky were the lone representatives of Paddlers for Life to ascend Lingmoor Fell in Langdale.

See what a great view we all missed and the weather was clearly better than expected from the forecast.

Manchester Paddlers for Life group moves a step closer as Ann, Sue, Peter, Louisa, Paul and Maggie visit Debdale Park.

They had a warm welcome from the manager and toured the excellent facilities.

There is a secure place to store a full size boat close to the water with a straightforward launch. The centre facilities are good with showers, changing areas and refreshment facilities.

They were able to discuss safety with the centre manager with Paul reassuring staff about paddler's expertise and professionalism.

Ann hopes to get things moving quickly. She has already updated prospective members at a group meeting and there is a lot of interest from health professionals and local Manchester hospitals such as Christies.

Arnside to the fairy Steps, January 2012

A group of paddlers enjoyed a six mile walk across Salt Marsh, (very wet) pasture and Limestone Woodland and in the process negotiated the narrow limestone fissure that is the Fairy Steps in spite of the 'moist' conditions.
